Simple Creamy Tuna Noodle Casserole

When it comes to traditional and affordable comfort food dishes that everyone knows tuna noodle casserole is always at the top of the list. This casserole is a great way to make use of the canned tuna you have in your pantry. I love to buy a couple of cans of tuna when I am in the grocery store to add to our stock.

Last year I put a good deal on tuna cans on Subscribe and Save and well we definitely have enough tuna in the house. We use it for things like tuna casserole, and tuna cakes, and even to add flavor and protein to cheap macaroni and cheese. I plan to share a few more of these tuna recipes for those looking for frugal recipes.

This creamy tuna noodle casserole is delicious and easy to toss together using items you already have in your kitchen. Its creamy decidence makes for a great winter comfort food and running the oven to make it can help to heat your home.

What you need

  • 1 package of noodles
  • 2 cans (about 10 oz each) tuna, drained
  • 1 cup frozen peas, thawed (corn works if you have picky eaters)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup choice of shredded cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Parsley (optional for garnish)

How to make a quick and easy creamy tuna noodle casserole

Save

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Cook the noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup and milk. Stir until well combined.

Add shredded cheese to the soup mixture and stir until the cheese is melted.

Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste.

In the same mixing bowl, add the drained tuna, thawed peas, and cooked noodles. Gently fold the ingredients together until everything is evenly coated with the creamy sauce.

Transfer the tuna and noodle mixture to a greased baking dish, spreading it out evenly.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the casserole is bubbling.
