The weather is turning warm finally. Will be in the 60s this weekend and the perfect time to cook out on the grill or make a fun smoked dish for dinner. This easy homemade hickory barbecue sauce is so easy anyone can make it.

We used this easy homemade hickory barbecue sauce to make our pulled chicken sandwiches when we had to use up some chicken that was in the freezer and it was getting close to time to use or toss. The kids loved it and were found munching the leftovers out of the refrigerator.

Easy Homemade Hickory Barbecue Sauce Save

What you need for this Easy Homemade Hickory Barbecue Sauce

:: 1 cup apple cider vinegar

:: 1 cup red wine vinegar

:: 10 tablespoons ketchup

:: 4 tablespoons brown sugar

:: 1 tablespoon onion powder

:: 1 tablespoon garlic powder

:: 1 teaspoon salt

:: 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes

:: 1 tablespoon liquid hickory smoke

Easy Homemade Hickory Barbecue Sauce Save

:: Mix everything in a large saucepan.

:: Bring to a simmer on the stove stirring consistently for 8-10 minutes. For a slightly thicker sauce simmer for 15-20 minutes.

:: Store any leftovers in the refrigerator for up to a week in an airtight container. This sauce has the best flavor heated.
